In all honesty I've had a Converse fetish now for about 12 years (I'm 25). Over the years they have cost me a fortune, provided me great with great moments and got me into some seriously embarrassing situations. For the first time I'm going to tell my Converse story.

THE START: MY FIRST PAIR - FLORIDA 1999

I had just finished primary school in June 1999 and that summer my parents, my sister and I headed off on our annual vacation from Dublin, Ireland to Orlando. I was really excited. Firstly because of all the theme parks and secondly I'd heard sneakers were really cheap compared to in Dublin so I hoped to pick up a new pairs or two.

Being a 13 year old teenager in Dublin, sneakers were a big part of who you were. Having the right ones meant you were accepted, considered cool and hung around in the right crowd. Not having a pair of branded sneakers meant you were a social outcast and more than likely teased, excluded and bullied. Lunch times in primary school were spent admiring each others trainers and Monday morning would always be the highlight of the week as It would be the first show off of a new pair of sneakers bought the previous weekend.

My sneaker ownership over my primary school days were typical of all the 'in' Irish kids at the time; Reebok Classics, Adidas Superstars, Nike Air's, Adidas Cross Country and Nike Cortez's. All had to come in white, classics preferably and the cleaner they were the better. Over the course of the year I got three pairs of new sneakers. My mother was very meticulous in when she let me get them. 1 pair at the start of school year, 1 pair at Christmas and 1 pair at the end of the school year for the summer. We were allowed wear sneakers to school so each pair had to last me around 4 months and these months were kept keeping them as clean as possible and deciding which pair to get next.

At the end of the school that June like clock work I headed out to buy my new sneakers with my mum. I wasn't too picky as to which pair I got as It would only be a few weeks until I was picking out my new pair for secondary school. A pair of all white nike cortez's were purchased that day to get me through until the holiday to Florida. The next week we headed to the States for the month. In Orlando we did the typical visits to the theme parks and It wasn't until the third week that we hit the malls. Being my first time to the States I couldn't believe the amount of sneaker shops. In Ireland of 1999 we had a choice of about 3 sport shops in Dublin. The likes of Footlocker were years away. The choice of new sneakers was endless in the States but which ones to get.

As I was starting in a new school I wanted something exclusive, something no one else had, sneakers in which I would stand out and be instantly popular amongst all the new people I was going to meet. Unlike primary school this secondary school was mixed so the decision was important as there were girls to impress. After 4 trips to the mall and 100's of pairs tried on (I was worse than a girl!!) I had picked out a pair of Nike Air Max BW's, white obviously with a red Nike sign and a red air bubble. As I was on the way to the till with my mother to pay for them out of the corner of my eye I was caught by this bright white light and was drawn over. Converse All Stars!!!! It was love at first sight. I'd seen these on TV and in films but we didn't have them in Ireland at the time. These were all time classics and were certainly exclusive. They would be my golden ticket in with the new crowd in my new school. I would be trend setting and would stand out from all the boring others wearing their Nike, Adidas and Reebok sneakers.

A pair of optic white high tops size ten were on the display rack. I tried them on to see if they'd fit before asking for a fresh pair but they were slightly to big so I asked the shop assistant for a pair of size 9's. A few minutes later out came the assistant with the black thin box which he handed me. I opened It slowly. There they were the perfect sneaker. Clean white canvass, the red bar around the edge, the Converse logo on the inside and the All Star logo on the heel with made in America under them. I took them out. The smell of fresh canvass and leather was incredible. They weren't laced up so I put my feet into them and started to work the laces through the eyelids. After a minute or two once they were perfectly laced I stood up to look at them in the mirror. Wow these looked amazing. I also noticed in the mirror and thank god nobody else did I had a boner. I quickly pulled my dick in to my chest and sat down again and unlaced them. As I was putting them back in their box my mother asked me if I was sure I wanted them as my new sneakers for school reminding me they would have to last until Christmas. I assured her they were perfect. As I put my Nike Cortez's back on all I could think about was lacing my new High Tops on the first day of term next month. That night when we returned home and everyone was asleep I took my Converse out of their box and for the next while pulled myself to pieces just looking at them. That night was the first time i'd masturbated to a pair of sneakers.

To be continued………..

wicla - did you have the ripple sole version of Country and Cortez? When I first saw Country Ripple in a shop I was almost beside myself - had to have them. What a pity that they have disappeared, probably because of the increased popularity of Converse. Hope they reappear some time. It also makes one wonder how many of your schoolmates were also 'blown away' when they got their new sneakers, but were too scared to share their experiences.
