Hi all!

First off, a big thank you to Seeker for the jan 2015 update, it's been fun exploring the unread threads!

I wanted to bring up a topic that we could probably help each other with; Storage!
How do you deal with family members, house mates, room mates, girlfriends, boyfriends, wives and the like finding your stash of irregular sneakers? Also, how have you dealt with this in the past? Share your advice.

Early teens, living with parents:
Don't store any! Your parents will likely not respect your privacy yet. They will find your stash. They will probably even walk in on you during a few happy fun times. Happens to everyone. I would recommend waiting. Untested idea(s): If you found a holy grail and you must store 1 pair, you could put it inside a tall PC case. If your family is not very tech-savvy they won't ever think of opening it. Just make sure it's clearly old, not used, cannot be turned on and it's yours.

Late teens/twenties, living with parents:
You've now got some privacy I hope. Parents will knock, won't clean your room and won't go through your possessions when you're out, I hope. If you are buying more than an average number of regular sneakers and are vocal about being a sneaker collector, a good method is to have them hide in plain sight. I took this route and have about 15 pairs of new and wearable old sneakers, in boxes, at the bottom of my closet, loud and proud. The back row however aren't mens, but nobody will bother to dig. Also be sure to not allow people to borrow your sneakers. If you do they won't hesitate to grab some themselves next time. Untested idea(s): A storage unit! Not very accessible tho.

Living alone/with a girlfriend/boyfriend:
This is where I'm heading and I'd like some advice on. I love the forecast of (near) 24/7 privacy and I'd love to have the 'back row' overtake the 'front row' in size. My next girlfriend will be introduced to the fetish of course so she's no real problem. I feel held back tho because the family gets keys to the apt too and I can't deny them that. They've already been joking about coming around daily to clean and wash - so very nice of them. What are my options here? Perhaps a large locked chest? It's obvious, but they'll respect me or my gf having our 'toys' locked away even if they don't know what they are. Or would you come-out to your parents about your fetish at this stage? Or would you simply not care if they found them? After years of hiding them it feels like the natural thing to do.

So, how do and did you keep your private collection private?

Hi,

in the last situation it’s definitely better to store the collection lockable if you want to hide it from visitors. Use a lockable chest or cupboard(s) depending on the size of the collection.
That’s the way me and my wife store. Except our everyday sneakers of course those are not just worn and used for...

Back in my childhood, youth and up to the time of moving out I just had a small collection that I could hide well in drawers and other places in my room. Fortunately it worked. At least no one faced me with that over the years.:icon_cheesygrin:

While living at home: "borrowed" my sister's even when she moved out, she left a lot of clothes and most of her sneakers behind.

I lived alone immediately after college for a bit more than a year and then got married. Mrs. Mule had some sneakers of her own and I "outted" myself to her about two years after we were married. So we now have a dozen or so pairs of sneakers in various places in the house, mostly the bedroom closet.

So, I never had an issue hiding my "stash."

I never collected shoes until we married (pictures, yes ) and everything is stored in a wardrobe. "Outdoor" shoes go with other outdoor shoes in plain sight. "Bed" shoes go in the wardrobe, kept in their boxes to keep clean. As our tastes change "bed" shoes can be sold on in perfect condition (I don't feel the urge (pardon the expression!) to cum on or in my wife's shoes!) or transferred to "outdoor " general use. Seeing my wife wearing sexy shoes in public is almost as good these days as a bedroom session.

I spent many years being secretive about this fetish. At my age now (61) If I was asked by anyone as an honest straight question "do you have a shoe fetish" my answer would be a blatent "yes." My Sister in Law suspects, I think, but she is far too straight laced (pun!) to ask!

Great idea for a thread! Thanks atem1230 for bringing these older threads back! I missed them the first time.

As for storing this is becoming more and more of an issue for me, especially with Tretorns being available at Kohls, DSW, and Costco where I can just buy a pair and walk out with them! My wife knows I am into Tretorns, but doesn't indulge me very much. She actually has 3 pairs right now I've given her, but only rarely wears. Funny enough, she hasn't asked me how many I have!

Right now I store them all in my closet and she never seems to go searching in there, but who knows? Thing is I'm running out of room! I have so many pairs, I actually forget about some that I have! I worry about it when we move. I've actually thought of something similar to what an earlier poster said about hiding them in a computer box. I was thinking of hiding them in Christmas decorations boxes since no one will open them except once a year. And then once they are in the new house I can move them back to the closet.

My wife knows I am into Tretorns, but doesn't indulge me very much.

Pleased to say this is one problem I never had, sorry to hear this. Truth be known I have bought more pairs of sneakers for my wives (I was married before) than jewelery. My wife loves Keds (she asks for pairs birthdays and Xmas with zero prompting from me.)

I hope one day your wife looks on our fetish more sympathetically.
