SFW just about the kicks!

All I see is it going down, down, down! And ALL summer have been a GIANT zero for Keds!! I have gone to Seattle, fairs, Dallas, music festivals and EVERYWHERE - ZERO KEDS!! The big, clunky, lesbian looking running shoes are everywhere. In my long life I have NEVER seen it WORSE for Keds. They just simply are not being worn. I bet if these chicks have a pair, they are either on the backporch to do yardwork or are buried so far back in her closet they will never be found.

Very sad Keds summer!!!!

I am going to chime in with a theory here. Most of the top places shown on the map are in the "Bible Belt." Of course, these places are warmer so Keds are more likely to be worn than in snowy Chicago or Buffalo or other places in the Great White North.

But I think that there is also a link between the conservatism of Evangelical Christianity and the choice of dress for women. I'll bet the skirt to slacks ratio is also higher in these areas.

I used to live in a lot of places. Grew up in MN, heavily padded skate shoes in the late 90's dominated the scene when in public school likely due to our winters, and elementary school early 90's I saw a few knock off Keds by only a handful of girls.

Eastern and central KY from 2003 - 2012 or so: Saw no Keds. Vans Lo Pros were the only thing close to Keds in early '2010's, but that was short lived, then they discontinued them. Converse All Stars were also everywhere, especially with the hippie crowd.

I've lived in FL, and that was when the Toms craze happened around 2013. Flip flops everywhere. I saw one or two pairs of Champs, but the FL heat destroyed the vulcanization/glue, so they never sold well down there.

In Montana around 2014-2017 I saw a lot of trashed white Chucks and hiking boots, no Keds.

Now, I'm in MN and the rural parts. Air Force 1's abound, as well as other less-known sneakers. Very few Keds. Vans Old Skools are the closest thing I see, I guess for warmth in winters.

I agree. Two regions likely have Keds in my opinion. The bible belt I've seen shoes similar to Champs, or, I would say the west coast would have Keds given their arguably political, "ladies first" thing that the brand has thankfully dropped for more inclusiveness.

The West Coast seems to be Chucks country and ... Crocs.

Now that you mention it, it does seem like almost every model I've seen wearing Keds is Caucasian. There are, of course, exceptions but it does not seem to be in proportion to the general population. I haven't been keeping score and collecting data, so I don't know if I am just seeing things or if there is some reality to this "fact."
