There is no section set up for those to meet others. I am pretty sure it is for safety and to protect the site. Has anyone ever meet others from the group?

I ask because I tavel all over the eastern half of the country and think it would be cool to meet some of the people that share my fetish and talk about it face to face. I usually do not have time to meet anyone as I travel and work, but if the situation presented itself it might be fun to chat with others or even browse the local mall together looking for sneakers walking by.

I have always wanted to meet others with my fetish as well...where do you travel to usually Sneakerman? What sneakers are your favorite again?

Re: Meeting others from group

I agree it would be neat to meet with people I've talked to on the boards. I don't travel a whole lot but my job usually takes me out of state a few times a year...that's usually when I get enough courage to buy sneakers from a total stranger!

Re: Meeting others from group

I've met three people so far who have sneaker fetishes (two of them have even met my wife), all of them very nice people. One even introduced me to his girlfriend, also a wonderful person.

It's very interesting to actually meet and realize how normal we all are (I mean the ones I've met, I don't know about the rest of you :icon_chee ).

However, you can learn just as much posting messages here, it's just faster when you can talk face to face. The one thing is for sure, the people I've met were all people I had emailed several times before meeting up with them and knew a fair bit of info about them, so I felt more comfortable meeting face to face. I don't think I'd do it with just anyone.

I've hung out with Andprinter a couple times...I was nervous as hell talking about it! Especially with his wife there! Yikes! Wonderful people though. Once I relaxed it was much better. Plus, we were both a LONG way from home when we met up, so it was interesting in other ways, since we actually live close to each other in our real lives. We met up again a couple times after that, with my girlfriend tagging along as sneaker model extraordinaire. It was fun. Good times...good times. Haven't done anything like that in years.
Don't know if I'd meet up with just anyone. It would be sorta weird if it was someone wayyy older or way younger. You need to at least have some small bit of common ground or else it's awkward in my mind. Like, what exactly would happen? Talk about sneakers? Not too exciting to me, since everyone has their own specific thing that they're into. Or, what if they saw sneakers from your 'collection' and wanted to, ummm, partake? Weird or not? Depends on the people. If you're gonna meet up, get to know the person first I guess... who knows. Just rambling.

To answer the question as to where I travel it is the eastern half of the US. I have a tech job that requires I drive from site to site and without much notice nor is there a regular schedule or area. As far as sneaker I like it is in my profile (all low top canvas name brands for the most part, and select others). I am getting ready to take a trip to St. Louis, Chicago area and as I travel my trip usually changes and more areas get added. Just got back from Vermont, MA, CT, NJ, VA, NC, SC. I drive about 50k miles a year.

Re: Meeting others from group

very cool...i will be in Chicago for a short time the later part of next week Wednesday and Thursday, leaving Friday AM. Let me know if you're around and would like to meet up.

Re: Meeting others from group

Actually going to be in class with a co worker in St. Louis the week of the 19th and will most likely be in Chi town the week after. If things change and I go early I will let you know.

Re: Meeting others from group

chicago area resident here, if you'd like and additional member to the possible get-together.
