I've had the occasion to be on college campuses each of the last two weekends which is not someplace where I typically spend any time. I'd guess that 85% of the girls were wearing Nike AF1's. I've never cared for those shoes and don't understand the popularity. The look like they'd be heavy and not offer much in the way of support.
The balance of the girls were wearing some other brand of chunky sneaker (Puma, New Balance, etc.), with a few pairs of converse high-tops.
Of course, this made me recall my college years in the late 1980's and early 1990's where the sneaker population would have been 90% a combination of Keds, Tretorns and Reeboks.
Most of fashion and style is cyclical, however, I rather doubt that there will be a resurgence of Keds, Tretorns (or shoes of that general style), again.
Thoughts?
