Adult rated Keds Keds are booooring!

That's true Mule. Most women's sneakers are feminized versions of men's sneakers. Vans, Converse Chucks, and Adidas Superstars are men's shoes, but you will just as many women wearing them. Even the Keds Champs were originally men's shoes.
If Keds started making sneakers for men in the Champs style, would you buy them? Or would you continue buying the women's oxfords?

Keds for men.

Keds for men.

For a short time in the mid to late 80's Keds were making champs for men in blue, white, chino, gray, black, and red. I owned every color except gray and wore them out in public , and to me it was a ton of fun. I got lots of complements from the ladies too. I really went for the white leather Keds in size 10.5 , as they were made with the 4 eyelet style. If you got the men's size 11 or larger you got 5 or 6 eyelets, which I detested that styling. I would buy them again if Keds made them. The men's style also had a slightly higher white rubber trim, than the women's had. Too bad more men did'nt like them , I think men would wear them, but did'nt want to be teased by other guys for wearing lookalike girls sneekers. I still wear them all the time, in blue, white, black, and red, and they are womens, so what, life is to short to wear ugly shoes. Dig it!

When Keds did make champions for men, I did wear them. My favorites were the slip ons, not for style, but for comfort. I bought them a half size larger than I normally need. Then I could slip into them without having to bend over to walk the dog or take out the garbage.

I remember back in the late 50's being about 10 years old at the time and wanting to play handball at the courts by the beach. I was wearing flip-flops. My sister offered to let me use her Keds. But I was too embarrassed to wear, "girl sneakers."

That changed several years later. As I was trying to pick out an outfit to go to a dance my sister suggested that it was OK to wear my "girl-like" sneakers with my slacks. (Yes, they were men's shoes -- more akin to deck shoes than champions).

If Keds still made champions for men, I would wear them. However, I am not going out of my way to wear women's shoes. I prefer to buy them so my wife can wear them.

As somebody else pointed out, even when Keds did make men's shoes, they made them slightly different than from the way they made women's shoes.

If more men wore Keds Champions, more men would wear them.

If more men wore Keds Champions, more men would wear them.

Lets face it, Keds Champions are the super classic looking shoes. In white they are clean and pure as any shoe could be. Perfect for men and women to wear. Styles trends of today are the currents we are pulled into taking us away from the innocent and simple that is so desirable to our innerselves. Not everyone male or female would look better in Keds, but normal handsome, beautiful people wearing them would entrance anyone who would lay there eyes on them. Because the Keds look is so honest, they would benift the person wearing them. If more men wore Keds Champions, more men would wear them, without feeling embarassed..It's just a state of mind. Men wear your Keds and feel good, be above the masses. Go into a shoe store, ask to try on a pair of Keds Champions, be brave, make your heart race a little, buy them and wear them out and see if you don' t feel like your on a high.
