I love the vintage pictures of the cheerleaders in Keds. The 1960s was the decade for Keds. Even pro tennis players wore them.

Back then, communications was not as good as it is today. So college football games stayed local and showed the marching band instead of showing highlights from the other 60 or so games going on. Back then the baton twirlers wore Keds as did the cheerleaders.

Then in the early 70's the "running craze" hit and Keds were no longer a contender for athletic footwear. More people wore sneakers, but there was a lot more variety of sneakers to wear.

I do. however, like the recent trend of women who wear sneakers with dresses.
